Remedial Massage & Reflexology

Slip into a state of bliss with our range of Massage and Reflexology treatments.

Reflexology is a massage treatment that involves stimulating reflex points on the foot. Each of these corresponds with an organ or part of your body. There are 86 main reflex points on each of your feet. When a part of your body is unbalanced or diseased, crystalline or granular deposits may build-up at the corresponding reflex point on your foot. These points may feel tender, sore or painful to touch.

By gently stimulating and applying pressure to these points, your massage therapist can slowly work out and disperse the granules. This helps to reduce the congestion or blockages in the affected areas of your body, as well as stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system.

Calming Benefits to Existing Conditions

Reflexology has a proven complimentary role in alleviating and healing a range of specific health conditions:

  • Anxiety and depression (especially pre-operative and menopausal related)

  • Effects of cancer treatment (including appetite, breathing, concentration, fear, pain, nausea, fatigue, diarrhoea and constipation)

  • Cardio-vascular system problems

  • Diabetes Type II (including less pain, better glycemic control and nerve conductivity.

  • Migraines and tension headaches (comparable to drug therapy)

  • Post-operative symptoms, such as decreased pain, nausea and vomiting.

  • Sinusitis (comparable to nasal douching)

  • PMS

  • Bedwetting

  • Constipation

  • Long-term degenerative conditions, such as Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease.

Your massage therapist will commence your reflexology treatment by feeling for signs of granular deposits, pain, soreness, crunchiness or hollowness in all areas of your feet. They will gently but firmly stimulate your affected reflex points.

With your parasympathetic nervous system activated, your anxiety reduced and your fight-or-flight response switched off – your body can begin to heal and take care of itself.

FAQs

How long will a massage treatment last?

The average full-body massage treatment lasts approximately one hour. A half-hour appointment only allows time for a partial massage session, such as neck and shoulders, back or legs and feet. Many people prefer a 60- to 90-minute session for optimal relaxation.

Will the massage oils used make me break-out?

Our massage therapists use hypoallergenic massage oils or lotions. However, if you have sensitivity to certain types of oils or lotion please bring it to the massage therapists attention as most practitioners have an assortment of oils and lotions on hand. All oils are nut free and water based, we also have non allergic oils available for sensitive skins. A wide range of essential oils are available.

Where will my massage session take place?

Your massage will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music may be played to help you relax, or you may choose to bring your own iPod in with you. You will lie on a table catered for your comfort.

What do I wear during the massage?

Depending on the primary technique your therapist uses, you may or may not need to undress. For a full body massage, you will undress to your underwear. Your massage therapist will give you privacy to undress to your underwear, and you will be covered with a  towel at all times except the area being worked on.

What do I do during a massage therapy treatment?

Make yourself comfortable. If your therapist wants you to adjust your position, she or he will either move you or will ask you to move what is needed. Otherwise, change your position anytime to make yourself more comfortable. Many people close their eyes and relax completely during a session; others prefer to talk. It’s up to you. It is your massage and whatever feels natural to you is the best way to relax. Do not hesitate to ask questions at any time.
